The General Staff of the Italian Army, the Institute of Political Studies "S. Pio V" and the Guido Carli Luiss University are organizing an international study meeting on "Neutral Italy 1914-1915" that will take place in Rome in December 2014. The meeting will be divided into three panels: political, military and international relations. The aim of the meeting is a critical review of the period of Italian neutrality to restore it to its rightful place in the history of the First World War, and an examination of the various aspects characterizing Italy from the declaration of neutrality to intervention in the War. The main themes on which to focus in proposing papers are:
* The Italian political system, with particular reference to institutional leaders, parliamentary and political forces, currents of opinion, the press, and pressure from associations;
* The situation of the Italian armed forces on the eve of conflict, military preparation, industrial mobilization, the Army and public opinion;
* Italian neutrality and the weight of its military intervention within the system of alliances and in the opinion of the main powers at war.
These theme topics should be treated in all their complexity, avoiding excessive specialization in the papers.

Pio V" et l'Université Luiss Guido Carli organisent en décembre 2014 un colloque international sur le thème "La neutralité italienne 1914-1915". Le colloque sera divisé en trois panels : politique, militaire et relations internationales. L'objectif de ce colloque est de repenser, de façon critique, la période de neutralité italienne, en replaçant, de plein titre, ce moment au sein de l'histoire de la Première Guerre mondiale et en examinant les différents aspects qui caractérisèrent l'Italie de la déclaration de neutralité à l'entrée en guerre. Les propositions de communication doivent s'orienter autour des axes thématiques suivants:
* Système politique italien, avec une attention particulière aux autorités institutionnelles, forces parlementaires et politiques, courants de pensée, presse et associations.
* Situation des Forces armées italiennes à la veille du conflit, préparation militaire, mobilisation industrielle, Armée et opinion publique.
* La neutralité italienne et le poids de son intervention militaire sur le jeu des alliances et sur la considération des principales puissances belligérantes.
Ces axes thématiques devront être traités dans leur ensemble, en évitant toute spécialisation excessive des interventions.
